Ehsanul Haque Jasim, a Staff Correspondent of the Bangladesh Post, has received the ‘National Award for Tobacco Control-2023’, the highest tobacco control award in Bangladesh.
He has been accorded the award in journalist (print media) category for his outstanding contributions to the national tobacco control activities in the country. The other recipientof the award in journalist (electronic media) category is Sushanta Sinha, special correspondent of Ekattor Television.
A total of 10 organizations and individuals in nine categories, including Ehsanul Haque Jasim, have received the "National Award for Tobacco Control-2023" for their commendable contribution to anti-tobacco activities.
On the occasion of celebrating World no Tobacco Day-2023, the crest and certificate of "National Award for Tobacco Control-2023" was handed over among the recipients at a ceremony organised by theHealth Services Division of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday (June 11, 2023) at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
Zahid Maleque, Minister of the Ministry Health and Family Welfare; was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Howlader, secretary of Health Services Division of the ministry; presided over the programme, while Md. Saidur Rahman, additional secretary (global health) of the ministry; delivered the welcome speech and Hossain Ali Khondokar, an additional secretary of Health Services Division who is coordinator at the National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC); presented the keynote paper at the event.
Apart from the two journalists who received the "National Award for Tobacco Control-2023", Ministry of Railways in the 'Government Organization' category, Khulna Task Force Committee in the 'District Task Force Committee' category, Jibannagar Upazila Task Force Committee of Chuadanga District in the 'Upazila Task Force Committee' category,Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rakibul Islam in the 'Best Mobile Court Operator Official' category, Sanitary Inspector Tariqul Islam and Md Al Amin Rahman respectively in the 'Authorized Officer' category, Jhenaidah Municipality in the 'Local Government Institution' category, Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing in the 'Non-Governmental Organisation' category.
